(PatriotPostNews.com) – The parents of a mother who was charged and later acquitted of killing her toddler child have taken a polygraph test in order to clear their names of any wrongdoing.
George and Cindy Anthony are the parents of Casey Anthony, a Florida woman whose two-year-old daughter, Caylee, died in 2008. Though eventually acquitted three years later, Casey was charged with the murder of her child, creating a tremendous rift in the family.
George and Cindy recently took a lie detector test as part of a two-hour special documentary report which is scheduled to air on January 4 on both A&E and Lifetime. The documentary will feature both George and Cindy’s reactions to the other’s responses and the results of the test.
George Olivo, a retired special agent with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), administered the polygraph examination, of which he has conducted thousands during his career of more than two decades with the federal agency.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, the retired agent explained that “nothing really stood out” as unusual about the couple, even though some critics suspect the documentary to be a mere publicity stunt. Olivo pointed out that George and Cindy “can’t win either way” they decide to respond to accusations put forth by their daughter, which was revealed in a separate documentary about the case.
The 2022 documentary series “Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies” was the first time the mother came on camera since a jury found her guilty of lying to law enforcement but not guilty of murder. During the show, Casey alluded to the involvement of her father in Caylee’s death.
The toddler was initially reported missing by Cindy on July 15, 2008, although she was reportedly last seen on June 16. Her remains were discovered near Casey’s home months after the disappearance. Despite prosecutors’ best efforts, the mother’s DNA was not found on the duct tape that suffocated the child and there remains no clear indication of who murdered Caylee.
