(PatriotPostNews.com) – The American government’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is receiving backlash from the Russian government for a recent effort to recruit Russians to be double agents for the United States.
A roughly 3-minute video, complete with classical music and Russian language, was posted on the CIA’s Telegram and X social media accounts, which are followed by a total of more than three million people. The January 22 video features a fictional character who works for Russia’s notorious intelligence agency GRU.
The character, who also serves as narrator in the video, is a dedicated patriot who loves his country and was previously a paratrooper like his deceased father. The officer says in the clip that he has come to realize his country’s biggest enemy is not outside its borders but within Russia itself.
The character said that the nation’s “top leadership” has effectively “sold the country out” to the detriment of its citizens. While he laments the poor conditions for soldiers in the ongoing war against Ukraine and that citizens are “forced” into bribery in order to obtain work, government limousines and rich citizens are seen living the high life.
He further described “corruption and nepotism” as “eating away” at Russia “from within.” The character also adds that he has “seen the light.” In order to combat the corruption tearing his beloved country apart, the character says that he knew he had to work with the United States government.
Dramatically driving the point, the narrator adds that he will “pass on” his legacy of defending his country to his son and doing whatever it takes to reclaim Russia. He also said that he has “not lost hope” and, thanks to the opportunity to serve as a double agent for the CIA, is “not powerless.”
The video concludes with the officer calling the CIA and a message encouraging officers feeling similarly torn to contact the agency. Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for the Kremlin, reacted to the video by mocking the CIA’s decision to post the video to X, pointing out that the Russian site VKontakte was the better option to have Russians see the message.
