(PatriotPostNews.com) – An actor who is serving a lengthy jail sentence after being found guilty of multiple assaults has been moved from a maximum to a medium-security prison.
Danny Masterson, a TV actor who was convicted in 2023 of assaulting two women roughly 20 years ago, is serving a 30-years-to-life sentence for his actions. For the beginning of his incarceration, Masterson was held at the North Kern State Prison in Delano, a medium-security facility.
In January 2024, he was transferred to the Corcoran State Prison, located in Central California. This maximum-security prison is notorious for having held cult leader Charles Manson for 40 years after he was convicted of orchestrating multiple murders. He died in prison in 2017.
Masterson, who will only be eligible for parole in 2042, when he is over 60 years old, only remained in the Corcoran State Prison for a few weeks before being moved yet again. The actor is now being held at the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo.
His new residence is a minimum-security facility that gives its all-male inmates self-improvement opportunities like academic programs, counseling for abuse, anger management, and mental health services.
Masterson was reportedly monitored closely while at the Corcoran jail, with officials checking on him every 30 minutes to ensure his safety. The maximum-security facility is known for holding some of the most dangerous convicts in the state of California.
Although Masterson’s attorneys are planning to file an appeal over his conviction, a state judge has expressed his belief that the actor may never leave prison. Last month, the judge denied the defendant’s request to be out on bail while his appeal was in court, saying that Masterson is considered a flight risk.
Charlaine Olmedo, a Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles, wrote at the time that the actor was “likely” to remain incarcerated “for decades,” possibly for “the rest of his life,” if his conviction and sentence are reinforced during the appeal process.
