(PatriotPostNews.com) – Months ahead of the highly anticipated 2024 presidential election, top GOP candidate Donald Trump has fallen slightly behind President Joe Biden in some polls.
The sitting president has led the Democratic Party since candidates began launching their campaigns. The former president has also maintained a steady lead for the Republican Party, causing multiple well-liked candidates to drop out earlier in the race. Former United Nations ambassador and South Carolina governor Nikki Haley was the last GOP opponent to suspend her campaign, which she did after major losses in the Super Tuesday primaries.
Through the recent clinching of the primaries, Trump is the last remaining candidate for the Republican nomination. He is expected to go up against Biden in what would be a rematch of the 2020 presidential election.
Recent polls surveying voter preferences between Trump and Biden have indicated the potential for the Democrat to beat the Republican, but only by a few percentage points. Despite what the polls currently say, political and media experts alike are highlighting the reality that the numbers could easily shift several more times before Election Day in November 2024.
A February poll conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation revealed that Biden is favored to Trump 47% to 44% among a little more than a thousand registered voters. Another survey from March, put out by Emerson College, gauged the favored candidates among 1,350 registered voters. These results showed Biden was ahead of Trump by 51% to 49%.
Similarly, a Morning Consult poll of more than six thousand voters saw the Democrat ahead of the Republican by one percentage point. In other polls, the roles are reversed, with Trump apparently favored to Biden by a few points.
But the numbers could easily change before November. Indeed, an updated Morning Consult poll put Trump ahead of Biden again.
As public policy professor Heath Brown told Newsweek, the race is currently “just about tied” and is expected to “remain” there for some time. He added that “both campaigns” will be adapting “their strategies accordingly.”
