Donald Trump’s Assets, Including Trump Tower And Mar-a-Lago, Are In Jeopardy

(PatriotPostNews.com) – In the latest installment of former president Donald Trump’s legal woes, the appellate court in New York has given him 10 additional days to post bond for his civil fraud conviction while also significantly reducing the required amount.

On Monday March 25, the embattled GOP presidential candidate was set to pay the $464 million ordered in the judgment. However, a ruling from the court of appeals was issued on the same day, giving him more time to pay and cutting the immediate cost to $175 million. He is still required to pay the full amount, but that can be submitted later as long as he produces the smaller amount within the next 10 days.

Following the ruling, Trump told the media that he appreciates the decision of the appeals court and criticized Judge Arthur Engoron—who handed down the judgment—as “a disgrace to this country,” adding that the massive sum being required to be paid in a short time “should not [have been] allowed to happen.” He later stated that he plans to put forward the reduced bond sum “very quickly.”

Prior to the appeals court’s decision, Attorney General Letitia James of New York had planned to take hold of Trump’s assets if he had failed to pay the required sum. These assets include Trump Tower and the Trump Building, as well as various social clubs and the infamous Mar-a-Lago resort. The New York and Florida-based assets remain at risk, as they would be confiscated to pay the legal fees if the former president cannot post his bond.

Previously, James had filed paperwork within Westchester County in an effort to secure Trump’s estate, which spans 212 acres, in preparation of satisfying the judgment. But with the new ruling, the attorney general cannot seize any of his assets until April 4, at which time she could have local law enforcement confiscate his businesses and homes.

Although the ruling was monumental in giving Trump more time and practical steps to pay his fines, the court of appeals did not rescind Engoron’s order to have former federal judge Barbara Jones be given notable authority over the Trump Organization.
