Elvis’ Granddaughter Fights Foreclosure of Graceland

(PatriotWise.com) — A foreclosure claim against Elvis Presley’s historic Graceland property has been dropped after the singer’s granddaughter filed an emergency lawsuit to keep it from being sold.

On May 23, the home was set to be part of a foreclosure sale at a courthouse in Memphis, Tennessee. However, the move was blocked by Hollywood actress Danielle Riley Keough, whose mother is the late Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll.

Elvis’ granddaughter filed a last-minute lawsuit this week to prevent the foreclosure, arguing that it was grounded on pressure from a “false entity” that had forged her mother’s signature on documents. A notice of the forced auction—which was scheduled to take place on Thursday at the Shelby County Courthouse—was issued one year after Elvis’ ex-wife Priscilla and Lisa Marie’s estate settled a lawsuit regarding their control of Graceland.

Just before the sale was originally set to occur, a Tennessee judge issued a ruling prohibiting Naussany Investments and Private Lending from selling the property, in response to the May 20 lawsuit from Keough. According to a Graceland representative, Gregory Naussany confirmed to the property that the business was not going to “move forward” with the foreclosure claim.

A loan taken out by Lisa Marie, along with another critical case document, were reportedly gathered and recorded in a state other than Tennessee, requiring legal challenges such as the foreclosure claim to be filed in multiple states, therefore complicating the sale. Additionally, the judge at the May 22 hearing noted that a claim in Keough’s lawsuit scrutinized the authenticity of the documents allegedly signed by her mother.

Graceland is also “considered unique” by the state, the judge said, as the 13-acre property has been a monumental tourist attraction with more than 600,000 annual visitors. In addition to a museum and extensive memorabilia, Elvis is buried on the property alongside his daughter and grandson, Keough’s brother Benjamin.
