Israel Was Attacked By Iran – What You Should Know

(PatriotPostNews.com) – Iran directly attacked Israel with over 300 missiles and drones. This marks Iran’s first direct assault on Israel. Nearly all of the assault was blocked by Israel’s cutting-edge air defense systems, along with the support of allies, including the United States.

Even with Israel’s powerful defense, some of the assault broke through and a 7-year-old girl was injured in the attack. Representatives for Iran announced that the attack was in retaliation to an airstrike on Iran’s consulate in Syria, where two generals lost their lives. The Pentagon asserted that Israel was behind the attack on the Iranian Consulate. Israel has not confirmed or denied involvement in the airstrike.

Israel blocked 99% of the assault levied against them from Iran, but U.S. officials cited the attack as on the higher end of what they expected to occur. The U.S., U.K, France, and Jordan supported Israel in eliminating Iranian munitions. The Arrow 3 system, Israel’s most sophisticated air defense mechanism, protected the country from the vast majority of the attack. Officials noted that the system has never faced an assault at that level.

Despite supporting Israel, President Biden told Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the U.S. will not directly get involved in operations against Iran. Biden encouraged caution to prevent a larger regional conflict or war. Republicans in Congress are considering a proposal to expand support for Israel. Echoing Biden’s push for caution, G7 leaders expressed strong support for Israel and called for restraint to stem additional destabilization in the region.

Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed fears over severe escalation across the region. Neighboring governments such as Qatar and the United Arab Emirates released statements also emphasizing caution and restraint to safeguard the stability of the region.
