(PatriotPostNews.com) – President Joe Biden has long sought to expand Medicaid to include recipients of DACA or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Biden has been forced to settle for allowing recipients to receive federal health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Qualifying individuals will be able to apply this November 2024.
DACA was put in place by former President Barack Obama when Biden was still vice president. Right-Wing commentators have criticized the bill for encouraging “anchor babies” or when parents use their childhood as a tool to gain American citizenship.
Only 8% of Democrats are concerned about the crisis at the border, compared to 48% of Republicans and 25% of independents. In December 2023 alone, Customs and Border Patrol officers faced over 250,000 migrants attempting to enter the country illegally.
Biden’s move would allow upwards of 100,000 immigrants who were brought into the country as children to qualify for coverage through the Affordable Care Act, regardless of current immigrant status
Trump prioritizes America first by eliminating the special privileges granted to illegal migrants. Trump has said he will use an executive order to end birthright citizenship. Trump’s proposed executive order would require that at least one parent be a United States citizen.
Birthright citizenship is permitted under the 14th Amendment. The amendment was ratified shortly after the American Civil War and granted freed slaves a path to American citizenship. A liberal interpretation of the amendment allows individuals who enter the country illegally to gain US citizenship. Trump would roll back the amendment to block illegal aliens from using children as a means of gaining citizenship.
Trump wants to close that loophole so children will not be used to subvert the immigration process.
Trump is also seeking to enact the largest deportation effort in American history. Democrats are already preparing legal challenges. Trump announced that when reelected, he will deport over 20 million illegal aliens from the United States.
