Lebanese Immigrant Caught at Southern Border Acknowledges He is a Member of Hezbollah

(PatriotPostNews.com) – A 22-year-old illegal migrant from Lebanon was recently caught trying to evade authorities at the southern border, where he reportedly confessed to being a member of the terrorist group Hezbollah.

Basel Bassel Ebbadi was arrested near El Paso, Texas, on Saturday, March 9. According to a report by the New York Post, the captured migrant said that he was coming to the United States to “try to make a bomb.” He also shared that he was planning to make his way to New York upon illegally entering the country.

An interview with the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) investigators revealed that Ebbadi had been trained by Hezbollah for seven years, with the primary goal of eliminating people who are “not Muslim.”

Although he said he was planning to develop a weapon of mass destruction, the illegal immigrant claimed that he left Lebanon after working as a guard for Hezbollah weapons locations, saying he “didn’t want” to commit murder and that “you can never get out” of the group “once you’re in.”

Hezbollah, the Shia Islamist extremist group that is based in Lebanon and backed by the Iranian government, has been categorized as a terrorist organization by the American government for more than 25 years.

While in custody, Ebbadi also admitted to drafting a fake name and date of birth during his time in other countries, including Ecuador, Panama, and Sweden. The migrant reportedly was not carrying documents when he came to America, though he said he was robbed while in Costa Rica.

Ebbadi was subsequently held in custody due to his “terroristic threats to personnel.” ICE officials referred him to the Tactical Terrorism Response Team for another interview.

The alarming words from the Lebanese national come amid the ongoing tension felt by American politicians and citizens alike as the onslaught of illegal migration at the southern border persists.

Despite concerns from conservatives who argue that President Joe Biden’s “open border” policies are harming the nation, the number of immigrants arriving at the Texas and Mexico border hit an all-time high at the end of 2023, reaching almost 250,000 in the month of December.
