(PatriotPostNews.com) – Pop singer Lizzo has declared she is “quitting” amid ongoing sexual harassment allegations by her former dancers.
The 35-year-old, who has sought to be a staple for body positivity and self-love, wrote in an Instagram post on Friday that she was beginning to feel as though the world doesn’t want her around anymore.
“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet,” Lizzo wrote. She added that she was “quitting” due to ongoing attacks on her looks and character on social media, but did not clarify whether this applied to the internet or her music career.
Lizzo went on to say that her only intention is to make good music, and to make people happy with that music. The artist claimed that she is “constantly” facing a barrage of lies about her character, and that she is always the “butt of the joke” based on rumors about her character.
“I didn’t sign up for this ****,” she concluded. “I quit.”
It follows on from an eventful year for the pop star. In May 2023, Lizzo threatened to “quit” following social media speculation on her diet and her fast-food intake. Just months later, she was the subject of a legal suit from three of her former dancers.
Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez brought the claims against Lizzo with accusations of sexual, religious and racial harassment, discrimination, assault and false imprisonment. She was also accused of fat-shaming Ms. Davis during a tour.
Lizzo has denied all wrongdoing.
On Thursday, March 28, Lizzo performed at a fundraiser in New York for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. In response, lawyer Ron Zambrano, who represents the three former dancers, told NewsNation that it was “shameful” for Lizzo to be chosen to head up the event amid serious allegations about her behavior towards staff.
