Majority Of College Students Priorities Are Elsewhere

(PatriotPostNews.com) – As American tensions surrounding the war in the Middle East persists, a new poll has found that the conflict making headlines for its impact on college campuses is the least of most students’ concerns.

A recently conducted survey from the Generation Lab shows that, while hundreds of arrests have been made in the notorious college protests across the country, a small portion of campus student bodies are engaged in the demonstrations and care less about the Middle Eastern issue than other things.

Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in October 2023, Americans have been divided on the conflict, with some stating the Jewish nation is within its rights to launch intense counter offenses in the Gaza Strip and others saying it has gone too far and caused reckless, mass civilian casualties.

In recent weeks, college students have become the primary voice, standing in solidarity with Palestine and demanding an end to the Israeli-led attacks. The demonstrations have occurred as encampments, many of which were initially approved by administrations but quickly turned into unlawful gatherings. More than 2,000 people have been arrested amid the protests.

But the new poll reveals that only 8% of college students have actually been involved with the demonstrations, based on responses from 1,250 participants. When provided nine options of current issues, students notably rated the Israel and Hamas war as the least important for them. Reform of healthcare, civil rights, economic equality, accessible education, and climate change all ranked above the war in importance.

Additionally, the survey found that 34% of college students pin the blame on the tragic war on the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas rather than the management of the conflict by President Joe Biden, who was only held responsible by 12%. Another 12% indicated that Israelis were responsible for the conflict and 19% blamed the nation’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Regarding the college protests, 81% of students voiced support for accountability where damage has been done, 67% disagree with the encampment trend, and 58% believe nobody should be refusing school demands to disperse.
