(PatriotPostNews.com) – The Republican National Committee (RNC) is making significant staff cuts immediately following its adoption of a new team of leaders.
In the days after electing new chairs and officers, the RNC has reportedly let go of over 60 staff members within the data, communications, and political departments, some of whom are to leave immediately and others who can leave within the month. The turnover comes days after former chair Ronna McDaniel’s last day, following her announcement at the end of February that she was resigning from her position.
Michael Whatley has been elected as the new chair, where he will serve alongside his co-chair, Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former president and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. Whatley is a longtime supporter of Trump, the all but official Republican nominee for the upcoming election, and previously served on the RNC general counsel and on the North Carolina GOP as its chair.
RNC’s recently elected chief operating officer, Sean Cairncross, told the Associated Press that the new chair is currently “evaluating” both the committee and its staff to “ensure” that it is “aligned with his vision” of getting a Republican back in the White House through the November 2024 presidential election.
Additionally, Cairncross said that some members of the staff who have been requested to resign were simultaneously asked to “reapply” for a different position within the organization. The change in leadership solidifies that the RNC is being operated by dedicated Trump allies. His daughter-in-law previously expressed her commitment to using “every single penny” the organization has to ensure Trump is reelected.
Although the former president is the only remaining GOP candidate following Nikki Haley’s campaign suspension on Super Tuesday, Trump is still bogged down by four criminal indictments. In a separate case, he has already been ordered to pay fines of over $500 million. It is unclear whether the supportive leadership of the RNC will have the organization pay for the former president’s impending legal bills.
