New Report Accuses The Office Of Inspector General For “Targeting Political Opponents”

(PatriotPostNews.com) – The Department of Justice (DOJ) is facing scrutiny for its Office of the Inspector General (OIG), which is being accused of allowing agents to investigate parties against whom they have known political grudges.

Questions have been raised in suspicion that the agency is betraying its commitment to objective investigations into “fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct.” According to the OIG, this mission is accomplished by employees who do not represent a political party and remain in their roles across presidential administration changes.

But recent investigative reporting has found that some members of the OIG team—including those who are spearheading probes into the political appointments of the Trump administration—are biased against Republicans.

On Wednesday May 22, a request was submitted via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by America First Legal (AFL). The request asks the DOJ to look into the possibility of “politically motivated employees” working within roles that “demand impartiality,” such as those who work for the OIG.

The FOIA documents sent by AFL explained that there is an “unambiguous obligation” for the DOJ’s office to avoid “partisan considerations,” but pointed out that “there is evidence” that this responsibility is not being accounted for within the agency. AFL described the OIG as being “deeply infected with partisan actors.”

According to documents, Deborah Falk Zerwitz has reportedly contributed funds to Democratic politicians or groups connected to the party at least 35 times. Her donations, which have occurred since 2007, amount to $6,466.

In her current work, Zerwitz is leading the office’s probe into the 2020 department investigation about a string of deaths in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Michigan state nursing homes. A fellow attorney working on the same investigation, Jennifer Ramella, has made financial contributions to similar groups.

Christina Monta, a former attorney with the OIG who worked on election issues in 2020, donated more than a thousand dollars to various left-wing political players, including Elizabeth Warren’s Senate campaign.
