(PatriotPostNews.com) – During the latest GOP primary of the highly anticipated 2024 presidential election, Nikki Haley was dealt a sweeping blow from Nevada voters who opted not to choose any candidate instead of supporting Haley.
The Nevada primary was held on February 6, during which Republican voters overwhelmingly chose the option to vote for “none of these candidates” rather than choosing the former South Carolina governor and ambassador to the United Nations.
Haley is the runner-up to her opponent in the race for the GOP nomination, falling considerably far behind in the polls compared to former president Donald Trump in his whopping re-election campaign. But voters didn’t choose Trump over Haley in Nevada. Trump opted out of the latest primary election since it did not hold the incentive of winning delegates for the coveted nomination.
Haley made history on February 6 by becoming the first presidential candidate across both parties to be thwarted of a win by the “none of these candidates” option since it was first established in the state in 1975.
Though Trump did not participate in the primary in Nevada, he is registered for the state’s caucuses, which will result in GOP delegates for the Republican National Convention. The Nevada caucuses are scheduled for February 8. He has already claimed sweeping victories in previous key caucuses in Iowa and New Hampshire, with the polls presenting him as the favorite candidate for the Republican nomination.
Following Haley’s embarrassing loss in the Nevada primary, the former president posted on Truth Social that it was “a bad night” for his opponent, sarcastically urging voters to “watch” because she would “soon claim victory.”
The “none of these candidates” option received 60.4 percent of votes in the Nevada primary election, while Haley came in second with only 33.2 percent. Former vice president Mike Pence and Sen. Tim Scott were also on the ballot, scoring 4.2 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively.
