(PatriotPostNews.com) – Police arrested 47 anti-Israel radical demonstrators at Yale University on the night of the 21st. Over 250 demonstrators gathered at Beinecke Plaza on the Yale campus the night of the 21st before being dispersed by law enforcement. The students were charged with trespassing and will face Yale disciplinary action, which could include suspension or expulsion from the university.
A mass of over 350 protesters blocked traffic at the intersection of Grove and College Street at the campus. Demonstrators shouted, “From Yale to Columbia,” and they will not be moved. The university offered protestors the opportunity to speak with Yale’s trustees to discuss their concerns. The protestors declined the offer.
A similar protest broke out on Columbia University’s campus, where over 100 anti-Israel demonstrators were arrested. Colombia announced that all classes would be conducted virtually for the students’ safety.
At the University of Michigan, “pro-Hamas militants” established an encampment and demanded that the university denounce Israel and call for a ceasefire in Gaza. The student-protestors held signs with slogans like “No money for genocide.” The students dubbed the encampment the “liberated zone,” harkening back to the “autonomous zones” seen during the summer of 2020. One such zone, dubbed “CHAZ,” or the Capital Hill Autonomous Zone, forced locals to hire private security or risk their safety.
The area claimed by demonstrators at the University of Michigan has also been referred to by students as the “Gaza Solidarity Encampment.” Reports of violence have sprung up around these zones including one report of a Jewish student named Sahar Tartak being stabbed in the eye.
At New York University, students erected their own “liberated zone” on campus. Riot officers were dispatched to the scene, where they were reportedly met with violence from the anti-Israel student protesters, resulting in dozens of arrests.
The University of Southern California has canceled events, including all scheduled commencement speakers. Boston, Chapel Hill, and Ann Arbor each have encampments claiming territory across university campuses.
