Trump Ally Struggles in Face of Own Legal Woes

(PatriotPostNews.com) – A co-defendant in the ongoing case alleging election interference by former President Donald Trump and his allies is raising money so he can afford his legal bills.

Michael Roman, who has been working for Trump since he ran for president in 2016, is one of 18 co-defendants that were charged alongside the former president for being involved in election interference. The Georgia case—which alleges that Trump and his team attempted to overthrow the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia—has continued as defendants plead not guilty, including Trump and Roman.

A GiveSendGo fundraiser page has been set up to gather money for Roman to pay his legal bills, which could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in the case and is anticipated to continue for several months. The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $300,000, just over $62,000 of which has been raised since September 2023.

Trump has also been given financial support from the public. A GoFundMe page designated to help the former president cover his plentiful legal bills due to several lawsuits against him has already raised more than $1.3 million since its launch less than a month ago.

The closely followed election interference case was upended by Roman himself, who exposed a secret romantic relationship between Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor in the case, and Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney, who hired the prosecutor. This information was revealed through a court filing on January 8, in which Ashleigh Merchant, Roman’s attorney, made a motion that Willis’ team be removed from the case and Roman’s charges be dropped.

The relationship between Wade and Willis was first publicized thanks to court documents filed by Merchant, and they confirmed the information when it was revealed. Trump and other co-defendants later joined the motion to have the prosecution team replaced and charges dropped.

In February, Judge Scott McAfee of Fulton County hosted multiple hearings to determine whether the prosecution in the case should be removed based on the relationship between Wade and Willis.
