(PatriotPostNews.com) – A drug trafficker from Iran has been charged by the United States for his involvement in an alleged plot to commit assassinations in America.
The indictment from the federal Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of the Treasury involves Naji Sharifi Zindashti, who the American government says was a ringleader in an assassination plot on behalf of the Iranian intelligence and security ministry.
According to a January 29 press release from the DOJ, 49-year-old Zindashti was charged with conspiracy alongside 43-year-old Damion Ryan and 29-year-old Adam Pearson, both of whom are Canadian. The charges are based on court documents dated between December 2020 and March 2021, which provide evidence that the three “conspired with each other” to kill two Maryland residents, utilizing interstate commerce to complete their plot.
Zindashti reportedly proposed that Ryan bring together a group within the United States to commit the murder of a defector of Iran and his female partner, both of whom were living in Maryland. Ryan then contacted Pearson, who informed his fellow Canadian that he had connections that could commit the crime.
Ryan allegedly assured Pearson he would be given the $100,000 requested to complete the job and emphasized the need to have the plot “be over kill.” Pearson indicated that his team would be instructed to “shoot [the victims] in the head” by way of making an “example.”
The final agreed upon finances for the job equaled $350,000 including an additional $20,000 to cover travel expenses. Zindashti informed Ryan in February 2021 that the Iranian group he represented was prepared to pursue the assassination.
In addition to the indictment on the three individuals, the United States Department of the Treasury aimed at the criminal network in which Zindashti was involved, which aims to kidnap and murder those in opposition to the Iranian government. Zindashti and multiple high-profile connections have been officially barred from all business interaction that occur in the United States as well as all involving American citizens.
