(PatriotPostNews.com) — Legal analyst Jonathan Turley said in an interview with Neil Vacuto, that it would be “absurd” to imprison former President Donald Trump. Turley pointed out that while Trump is a former president and controversial political figure, he is also an elderly first time offender convicted of a nonviolent crime. Turley asserted that incarceration for an elderly first-time offender of a nonviolent crime would never be considered if it were any other case.
Turley reflected on seeing Democrats dance in the streets to celebrate Trump’s guilty verdict. But Turley believes that a guilty verdict would help Trump get elected and said he believes the judge who presided over the case, Judge Juan Merchan, is facing substantial “political pressure.” The case has been more political than judicial since the start, Turley suggested. He also suggested that Merchan is likely weighing the political fallout if he sentences Trump to prison time. Merchan could receive positive news headlines and likely be celebrated as a hero by Democrats. However, incarceration could also humanize Trump in the eyes of voters.
Democrats are divided on what Trump’s conviction means for the election. Notable celebrities, such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, have come out against President Joe Biden. Johnson suggested he regretted his endorsement of Biden in 2020. Rapper Macklemore, and comedian Michael Rapaport have also suggested they cannot vote for Biden. Prominent leftist activists have started to turn on Biden.
Even feminist activists are voting for Donald Trump. Amber Rose, a notorious leftist activist known for over-the-top stunts like her 2015 “slut walk,” announced that she now endorses Trump for president. Rose posted an image on Instagram standing side by side with Trump and his wife, former first lady Melania Trump, with the caption “Trump 2024.” In a viral video, a reporter accosted Rose and pushed her to answer how a feminist could endorse Trump. Rose responded that “Make America Great” means making America great for everyone, including women.
