(PatriotPostNews.com) — Newly released documents from the infamous Jeffrey Epstein case reveal that two minor girls, two law enforcement officers, and a state investigator testified for hours during the 2006 trial.
The recently unsealed transcripts, which were from a July 19, 2006, grand jury hearing in Palm Beach County, were publicized by a Florida judge. They were revealed on Monday, July 1, following a request from the Palm Beach Post and other news outlets. The public interest in the case led the media to ask for greater transparency about the verdict, which shocked the world by returning only one solicitation of a prostitution charge against the notorious Epstein.
But, according to attorney Spencer Kuvin, the minor victims who testified nearly 20 years ago “tanked their own case” with the “atrocious” manner in which they “handled” their time on the stand. The two girls had been questioned to gauge their understanding of the fact that they had illegally committed prostitution and faced criminal charges.
In 2006, Epstein was indicted for the single charge against him, prior to being arrested, booked, and let out on bond. Minor victims were not mentioned in the grand jury’s indictment. But the controversy continued after Michael Reiter, the chief of police in Palm Beach, issued a public apology to victims and handed the case to the authority of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Federal attorneys later arranged for Epstein to avoid federal prosecution if he pleaded guilty to the first indictment and one other charge of solicitation and prostitution involving a minor. He controversially spent less than a year and a half in private jail quarters that allowed him lenient work release.
The release of the documents comes less than six months after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 117, which permitted the release of grand jury documents like those of the 2006 Epstein hearing. While the newly unsealed transcripts provide insight into the questioning from the hearing, they do not show what options were given to the jurors prior to their decision on the indictment charge.
