Iran Calls For The United States And Israel To Leave Syria

(PatriotPostNews.com) — The top United Nations diplomat for Iran has renewed his demands that military forces from the United States and Israel leave their posts in Syria amid ongoing tension in the Middle East.

The Iranian demands, which are in response to several months of military action from Israeli forces, threaten to broaden the pre-existing war between Israel and Hamas to a larger conflict between the Jewish nation and Hezbollah, a Lebanese terrorist group supported by Iran.

On Tuesday June 25, the country’s Permanent Representative, Amir Saeid Iravani, released a statement through the Security Council. He said that the people of Syria “continue to suffer” because of the actions of Western nations in the region, facing “aggression, foreign occupation,” “terrorism,” and “humanitarian crises.” He further described the military presence of Western countries as “unlawful,” with “inhumane sanctions” being placed on Syrians.

Iravani accused such nations of being responsible for “the prolongation of the conflict” through efforts to “impose their own will” on the embattled country. Specifically, the Iranian leader called out America, which primarily supports the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), rather than the Syrian government, which is backed by both Russia and Iran. The SDF has gained control of most of the northeast of the country.

Additionally, Iravani named Israel in its “continued aggressions” towards the sovereignty of Syria, which he said is “targeting” both “vital infrastructure” as well as civilians. For the past several years, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched airstrikes within the country in an effort to undermine Iranian “Axis of Resistance” locations.

The warning to the United States and Israel comes amid deadly Israeli-led attacks in Syria as well as the ongoing war between the Jewish nation and its Palestinian enemy, Hamas. The Israeli-Lebanon conflict, though, goes back decades, beginning with a 1982 attack from Israel and resulting in long-lasting sparring, starting in 2006.

Amid current and rising tensions, experts have noted that a full-blown war is not unlikely, despite the apparent reality that neither country is interested in escalating the conflict.
