(PatriotPostNews.com) — In the days that followed the weekend assassination attempt against former president Donald Trump, leaders throughout the country and around the world have expressed their condemnation of the shooting.
Even in the Middle East, where notable leaders have a history of condemning the presidential candidate himself, blunt criticism has been shared. The attempt on Saturday, July 13, narrowly missed killing the former president, who escaped with an ear injury instead of a fatal shot through the brain.
Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, president of Egypt, wrote on Facebook that his country expresses “condemnation” of what he described as a “treacherous attack.” He added that he hopes the remainder of the campaigns are “peaceful and healthy” until the November election, without any further incidents of “terrorism, violence, or hatred.”
The assassination attempt was similarly criticized by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, president of Turkey, who expressed the need for those responsible to be brought to justice so that there will not be a “shadow” implicating the American presidential election or negatively impact “global stability.”
Additionally, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel shared prayers for a “speedy recovery” and future “safety” for Trump. The president of neighboring Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, confirmed that his country maintains its long-standing condemnation of “violence, terrorism, and extremism,” noting that it does not matter “its source.” Abbas, in particular, does not have a history of being on good terms with the former president.
The latest update from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on the weekend shooting noted that authorities have obtained the suspect’s phone as well as completed a search of his home and vehicle. Almost 100 interviews have been conducted with witnesses, law enforcement, and rally attendees. The FBI is also continuing to “review incoming tips” of photos and videos taken by witnesses and bystanders.
The incident occurred at a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania. While the former president’s life was spared, a former firefighter, husband and father named Corey Comperatore was killed protecting his wife and daughter.
