(PatriotPostNews.com) — The US House of Representatives just approved two bills designed to stem Biden’s relentless efforts to undermine the American consumer. The Biden-Harris administration famously targeted gas stoves in winter of 2023, before rolling back efforts in January of 2024. In 2023, Biden targeted most types of appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, commercial fans, water heaters, washing machines, and stove tops. The extreme restrictions would have removed features consumers wanted while only reducing a nearly negligible amount of energy.
Biden has seemingly not been deterred by the stovetop backlash and has resumed targeting appliances in the name of his energy agenda. Both the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency have announced new rules to restrict how appliances are permitted to operate.
House Republicans are spearheading an effort to protect Americans from overreaching consumer restrictions. The first bill has been dubbed the Refrigerator Freedom Act, and the second has been dubbed the Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act.
The refrigerator act passed on July 8th, 2024, with 212 yes votes compared to 192 no votes, seven Democrats voted for the act. The dishwasher act passed with 214 yes votes, including seven Democrats, compared to 192 no votes.
Iowa Republican Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks sponsored the refrigerator act. In a statement, she suggested that the Biden administration has weaponized the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy against American consumers in the name of green energy. Miller-Meeks asserted that Biden’s measures not only “limit consumer choice,” but also financially hurt American consumers. The Biden administration maintains that extreme measures are needed and will reduce costs in the long run.
The dishwasher act was sponsored by New York Republican Representative Nicholas Langworthy, who said that the Biden administration “twisted” federal law in order to force a “radical” and “draconian” agenda onto the American people. The pair of bills will move to the Senate, where Democrats maintain a single vote majority.
