(PatriotPostNews.com) — Last week, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has suggested that world leaders host an additional peace summit, this time inviting Russia to attend.
The news comes after the leader of the war-torn country addressed reporters and politicians while attending a gathering with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Washington, D.C. During his remarks, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for American support in its ongoing war with Russia and noted that there is more work to be done to ensure peace.
One of his suggestions was to host a second Peace Summit before the November election. A similar event was held in June, when world leaders gathered in Switzerland. However, according to sources, Zelenskyy would like to include Russia in the second summit. Last month, President Vladimir Putin held his own meeting in North Korea after being excluded from the gathering in Switzerland.
On Tuesday July 10, during his remarks in America’s capital, Zelenskyy noted the success of the Peace Summit and the response from Russia, which he said was working to secure additional military weapons for the rest of the year. He added that Putin and the “conspiracy of dictators” are “much weaker” than the “free world.”
Zelenskyy then urged leaders in the West to “react firmly,” saying that these countries “must and can” initiate another Peace Summit before the year is out. He added that the meeting should be planned around the Peace Formula and would be “even more powerful” as well as “truly decisive.”
The Ukrainian president also said that his country is still in need of “support from the U.S.” and that America should act before its upcoming presidential election in November. While officials from Ukraine have confirmed the plans for a second Peace Summit, members of the United States government are unsure that Russia will be persuaded to attend.
The first summit was held a month ago and welcomed more than 100 countries to assist in brainstorming how to establish peace between Russia and Ukraine. The gathering was intended by Zelenskyy to draw support for his 10-point peace plan, which he first announced in 2022.
