National Guard Chief Says US-Mexico Border Mission Has “No Military Training Value”

(PatriotPostNews.com) — The chief of the National Guard said that troops stationed along the southern border are being wasted. Chief of the National Guard, General Daniel Hokanson in a statement said that sending guardsmen to the border has “no military training value.” Hokanson asserted that the southern border crisis should be handled by law enforcement and not the military.

On June 18, during a Senate Appropriations Budget Defense subcommittee hearing, the chief suggested that securing the southern border does not protect the United States from foreign bad actors, and doubled down, saying that stationing troops at the border “hurts military readiness.” Hokanson asserted that the National Guard should not be stationed at the southern border and should instead be positioned in places that “deter our adversaries.”

Hokanson emphasized the need for well-trained military troops and expressed that troops at the border are being forced to take on police-like roles and are not learning skills applicable to their military training. Hokanson said that the Department of Homeland Security, as well as other law enforcement agencies, should be handling the southern border, not the national guide.

During the hearing, Democratic Committee Chair, Jon Tester, lamented how much worse the border crisis has become under President Joe Biden. Tester commented that even since positioning additional troops at the border, the situation has only deteriorated. Biden has long been ridiculed by Republicans and other conservatives for refusing to acknowledge the border crisis.

The entirety of the Biden administration has lied to and gaslit the American people about the dire situation at the US-Mexico border. The administration only admitted that the border is a major problem after the US secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, was forced to admit it under oath. During a House Appropriations Homeland Security hearing, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, directly asked Mayorkas if he would describe the situation at the southern border “a crisis.” Mayorkas responded, “Yes, I would.”
