(PatriotPostNews.com) — The son of Nobel Prize winner and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel has condemned a major civil rights organization for its call to end American aid to Israel.
Elisha Wiesel took to X on June 7 to blast the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for its recent demand that the United States government cut off its military support to Israel. America has remained loyal to its Jewish ally since the beginning of its war with Hamas, following the terrorist group’s massacre of more than a thousand innocents in Israeli towns.
While the Palestinian terror group was roundly condemned for its actions, the Jewish nation has subsequently come under fire for its intense response in Gaza, which has killed more than 30,000 people. Some world leaders—including President Joe Biden—have warned Israel not to be so focused on destroying Hamas that it neglects the safety of innocent civilians.
In his post, Wiesel pointed out that his family has deep connections with both the NAACP and Israel. His mother was actively involved in Jim Crow protests and his family is Jewish, his father having survived Nazi death camps. The Nobel Prize winner’s only child added that these bonds make the civil rights group’s comments more personal.
He described his family as “betrayed beyond words” by the NAACP’s request for military aid to be cut off from Israel, declaring that his people are “fighting for our lives” against Hamas, which brutalized the Jewish nation in its October 2023 attack and has stated “its intention” to repeat similar offenses. Concluding his post, Wiesel wrote, “shame on you, @NAACP.”
The scathing comments from the Holocaust survivor’s son followed the NAACP’s June 7 call on Biden to “indefinitely” suspend its weapons provisions to Israel and put greater pressure on the nation to end the ongoing war with Hamas. The civil rights group also noted that Biden’s continued support for Israel may negatively impact his support from black voters in the upcoming presidential election.
Additionally, the NAACP called on Hamas to “stop all terrorist activity” and Israel to “commit” to a military response that does not contradict “international and humanitarian laws.” The Jewish nation has been accused by the International Court of Justice of engaging in genocidal actions, which it has repeatedly denied.
