(PatriotPostNews.com) — During a recent podcast episode, popular host Joe Rogan took time to dissect why newly-convicted Donald Trump is gaining support from rappers for his 2024 presidential bid.
The host of the wildly popular podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience, told guest Tony Hinchcliffe, a comedian, on June 5 that there is a reason behind rappers endorsing the controversial Republican.
Rogan also expressed his disagreement with the recent hush money verdict, which found Trump guilty of 34 felonies related to business record falsification and paying adult film actress Stormy Daniels to keep quiet a romantic fling ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Hinchcliffe agreed, saying the trial was an example of painting Trump as “a bad guy” but pointing out that Americans “just aren’t stupid anymore.” Prosecutors argued during the infamous trial that the Trump Organization had listed the so-called hush money payments as “legal fees” that were categorized as such to illegally influence the 2016 election results. Trump denied all charges and declared the judge “corrupt” and the trial “rigged” after his conviction.
But the trial may have helped garner support from American rappers, Rogan pointed out, describing the rise in support from this demographic as “crazy.” He said that rappers now understand that Trump is “getting trapped by the system,” sparking greater support for him.
In February, Trump emphasized the work he had done to pardon certain citizens, multiple of whom are rappers. He recalled the pardons while addressing attendees at a gala for the Black Conservative Federation Honors, which was held in Columbia, South Carolina. Lil Wayne and Kodak Black, both rappers, were among those pardoned by Trump during his first term. They had been charged with offenses related to firearms.
The rise in rapper support for Trump following his conviction is reminiscent of his initial indictment in March 2023, which also sparked a wave of endorsements from the same demographic. Snoop Dogg and Kanye “Ye” West are among the popular rappers who have expressed support for the former president.
