(PatriotPostNews.com) — Seventh grader Jimmy Heyward was barred from giving a patriotic campaign speech for a leadership role in student government. The principal of the school told Jimmy that his speech was inappropriate and that he needed to remove all references to the word “patriotic.”
Twelve-year-old Jimmy struggled to comprehend the principal’s unexpected requirement and was left distraught and confused. Jimmy was running for “Commissioner of School Spirit and Patriotism.” The title of the position included the very word that the principal demanded be removed.
Jimmy and his family refused Principal Mary Flock’s demand to remove the allegedly offensive word. In response, Flock forced Jimmy to sit and watch his peers deliver their campaign speeches while he sat in silence behind the other candidates. The viral speech was published on X by Libs of TikTok. The incident was traumatic for the 12-year-old student, his parents described it as “humiliating” for him.
Jimmy’s speech went viral online and generated massive public support for the boy, which ultimately forced Principal Flock’s resignation from the Saint Bonaventure School. Numerous Public figures came out in support of Jimmy. Elon Musk even fired back at the principal and said on X that “hating America is not cool.”
Despite the incredible public support, Jimmy and his two sisters ended up being expelled from Saint Bonaventure Catholic School. The school cited that Jimmy’s family violated the “Christian Code of Conduct and the Parent Electronic Communication Policy.” In short, the Catholic school expelled Jimmy because his parents explained the bizarre situation online.
Jimmy was scolded and publicly humiliated by his principal, had his family publicly denounced by the school for posting on social media, and he and his two sisters were also expelled from school, separating the siblings from the support of their peers because his parents posted on social media, all because he dared to love his country, the United States of America.
