(PatriotPostNews.com) – Jenna Ellis, former member of President Donald Trump’s elite legal team, has pleaded guilty to a felony in connection to claims she made about the 2020 election. Ellis’s license to practice law in her home state of Colorado has been suspended for three years.
After the three-year period, she will have to demonstrate to the Colorado Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel that she is “rehabilitated” and will not make similar assertions in the future.
In October 2023, Ellis pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting false statements in connection with attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. The Colorado Supreme Court listed ten “misrepresentations” made by Ellis in reference to the 2020 and 2016 elections. Ellis claimed Hillary Clinton had not conceded the 2016 election, stated widespread fraud in the 2020 election, mentioned over 500,000 illegal votes in Arizona, and repeatedly declared Trump as the rightful president.
In an emotional statement, Ellis said she felt “deep remorse” for any harm done as a result of her original statements. Ellis suggested she was too inexperienced to comprehend what was going on during her time on Trump’s legal team and stated that she “just went along with it” referring to Trump’s “stop the steal” movement. Ellis went on to say that she hopes her admission will convince “stolen election believers” to accept Trump’s 2020 defeat. Ellis famously smiled in her mugshot photo.
Rudy Giuliani, former NYC mayor and member of Trump’s elite legal team, pleaded not guilty in a similar case in Arizona. Giuliani faces nine felony charges of election interference. The accusations against him include that he spread false claims and pressured legislators to alter the outcome of the 2020 election results.
The former chair of the Arizona Republican Party was similarly charged. Giuliani and Ward’s trials are scheduled for October 17, 2024. Giuliani echoed former President Donald Trump’s claims of a mass political witch hunt and referred to the charges as a political attack.
